Visit the Acropolis
Athens, Greece
Walk among ancient Greek ruins atop a historic hill.
View on Google MapsWhy It's Epic
The Acropolis is a time machine to ancient Greece. This rocky outcrop above Athens has been a sacred site for over 3,000 years, and the Parthenon temple crowning it is arguably the most influential building in Western architecture. Standing where Socrates and Pericles once walked is genuinely moving.
Beyond the Parthenon, the complex includes the Erechtheion (with its famous Caryatid columns), the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Propylaea gateway. The Acropolis Museum at the base houses original sculptures and artifacts in a stunning modern building.
The ruins look incredible lit up at night, and you can see them from rooftop bars throughout Athens. The best views of the Acropolis itself are from Philopappos Hill or the Anafiotika neighborhood below.
Pro tip: Go at 8am when gates open, or late afternoon after tour groups leave. The marble paths are slippery - wear proper shoes. Summer heat can be brutal, so bring water and a hat. The combined ticket covers multiple archaeological sites and is valid for 5 days.
