Hike to Christ the Redeemer
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Iconic statue overlooking the city and beaches.
View on Google MapsWhy It's Epic
Christ the Redeemer is more than just a statue - it's a 30-meter Art Deco masterpiece perched atop Corcovado mountain, arms outstretched over one of the world's most beautiful cities. The 360-degree views of Rio are genuinely breathtaking.
You can reach the top via cog train (scenic, popular), van, or hiking trail. The train ride through Tijuca Forest is beautiful but book ahead - it sells out. The hike takes about 2-3 hours and goes through rainforest, offering a more adventurous alternative.
From the viewing platform, you'll see Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, Sugarloaf Mountain, Guanabara Bay, and the sprawling city. On clear days, the views stretch for miles.
Pro tip: Go early morning or late afternoon to avoid peak crowds and harsh midday light for photos. The statue faces east, so sunset behind you lights up the city beautifully. Cloudy days mean you might be standing in a cloud at the top - check the weather first.
