Why It's Epic

Angkor Wat is massive in every sense - the largest religious monument on Earth, centerpiece of an archaeological park spanning 400 square kilometers with over 1,000 temples. The main temple alone took 30 years to build in the 12th century.

Most visitors come for sunrise at the main temple, but the complex rewards deeper exploration. Ta Prohm has trees growing through ancient stones (the "Tomb Raider temple"). Bayon features 200+ giant stone faces. Smaller temples like Banteay Srei have incredibly detailed carvings.

Get a 3-day pass if possible. One day is too rushed, and you'll want time to escape the crowds and find quieter corners. A tuk-tuk driver can take you to the main sites for around $15-20 per day.

Pro tip: Start at a different temple than Angkor Wat for sunrise - most people flock there, leaving other temples nearly empty. Bring lots of water, wear light clothing, and rent an e-bike for more flexibility than a tuk-tuk.
